How our signature styles complement the plate
Food and beer matching isn’t a trend here — it’s part of our DNA. Chuck Hahn has long been an advocate for thoughtful beer pairings, championing the idea that a well-constructed brew has the complexity and structure to sit proudly at the dinner table. That philosophy continues at Chuck & Son’s Brewing Co., where each of our core styles is designed with balance in mind — not just for the glass, but for the plate beside it.
This guide isn’t about reinventing the wheel. It’s about offering perspective on how our core range can elevate the everyday ritual of food and drink.
1. Original Pilsner
Pair with: Fresh seafood, soft cheeses, schnitzel
Our Original Pilsner is a study in restraint. Clean bitterness from noble hops, a crisp malt base, and a tight finish make it ideal for delicately flavoured dishes — think freshly shucked oysters, grilled white fish or a classic chicken schnitzel with lemon. The fine carbonation lifts the palate between bites, while the Saaz hop character adds just enough bite to keep things lively.
2. Two-World Pale Ale
Pair with: Barbecue, roast chicken, halloumi burgers
Blending New World aroma with Old World drinkability, the Two-World Pale Ale offers citrus, pine and subtle malt sweetness in harmony. It’s versatile and food-friendly, with enough hop character to play against smoky, grilled flavours without overwhelming the dish. Ideal with slow-roasted chicken, glazed pork belly or anything with char from the grill.
3. American Amber
Pair with: Chargrilled red meats, caramelised vegetables, aged cheddar
This is a malt-forward beer that holds its ground. The American Amber delivers layers of toffee, biscuit and roasted malt with a balancing bitterness that cuts through richness beautifully. It pairs particularly well with grilled lamb, roast pumpkin, or a sharp cheddar — dishes where depth and caramelisation need an equally grounded partner.
4. Touring Radler
Pair with: Spicy Thai or Vietnamese dishes, summer salads, grilled prawns
A modern take on the traditional Radler, our Touring Radler brings bright citrus notes with refreshing acidity and a low ABV profile. It’s built for food with heat, acidity or vibrant herbs — green papaya salad, grilled lemongrass prawns, or even pad kra pao. The citrus component mirrors fresh lime while the beer itself cleanses with each sip.
5. Traditional Hefeweizen
Pair with: Pork sausages, roast duck, soft cheeses, banana bread
Classic yeast-driven notes of banana ester and clove define our Traditional Hefeweizen, making it a natural match for mildly spiced dishes, richer meats or creamy textures. Weisswurst with mustard, roast duck pancakes, or even brie and a slice of fruit toast all find balance here — both complementing and contrasting the yeast character.
6. Alpine Hazy IPA
Pair with: Fried chicken, ramen, spicy fried rice, sticky glazed ribs
The Alpine Hazy IPA delivers bold tropical and citrus hop aromatics on a soft, pillowy malt body. It’s the ideal companion to bold umami and spice — rich ramen, sticky pork ribs, or fried chicken with heat. The haze acts as a cushion for chilli, while the bitterness and dry finish scrub the palate clean.
7. Old-World Lager
Pair with: Roast pork, schnitzel, mushroom risotto, grilled peaches
Bready malt, moderate bitterness and a firm, dry finish make the Old-World Lager an excellent pairing for both savoury and subtly sweet dishes. Its structure stands up to pork belly or mushroom risotto, while the noble hop profile makes it refreshing enough for grilled stone fruit or smoked cheese.
The Chuck & Son’s Perspective
Great beer shouldn’t just accompany food — it should interact with it. Our approach is built on balance, purpose and precision, with each style developed to serve as both a standalone experience and a companion at the table.
